What to do if you got a bad degree?

So, you got a degree you regret. Whether it was from a bad job market, realizing you wanted to do something else, or just realizing that the degree wasn't worth it, you're now stuck with this degree. So, what now?

Back to school

This is probably the most obvious one. Just go back to school. There are 2 ways to go here: Go back and get a new undergrad degree, or go to grad school and try to advance via advanced schooling. Both are good choices with different paths. If you go to grad school, maybe for a masters or PhD/Doctorate, it will almost always mean super specializing in a specific field. There are fields where this works great-namely sciences. These fields are great because advanced degrees almost always command higher salaries, and are needed for a ton of jobs. There are, of course, downsides, the main two being opportunity cost and, well, money cost.

Alternative Education

There are, of course, alternative paths to treck. Online courses and trade schools are both increasingly popular, even for college grads. Sometimes, a degree is more of a stamp of approval more than anything, as it gets you in the interview room. That could be a good reason to get a degree alone.

Get an inch in the door

Finally, there's the grind it out path. This means you have to network, apply to everything, and work on your skills across the board. If you're already in an oversaturated field, you have to find a way to set yourself apart. You should have every single box checked, and then some. Finally, be willing to take bad jobs, or even unpaid labor, just to have something to fill in the ATS.
